Dolmabahce Palace is a magnificent Ottoman palace built on approximately 250,000 square meters on Dolmabahce Street in Besiktas, Istanbul, on the Kabatas-Besiktas extension. It is located in one of the most beautiful places in the Bosphorus Strait.
It was built by Sultan Abdulmajid, the 31st sultan of the Ottoman Empire. The palace was built as a large garden with the only large building and a few mansions around it. In 1856, the palace was put into operation. 19. Much of ottoman architecture was under the control of the Balyan family, a well-known Armenian family. So much so that this family, as Hassa Architects for many years, even 7 generations, built many buildings of interesting architecture in Istanbul. Some public buildings were also built by this large family. Nikoğos, together with his father Garabet, completed dolmabahce palace, mosque and clock tower in 1853. Western-style effects are clearly visible in architecture. Dolmabahce Palace is now used as a museum. It is a very good example of ottoman palace traditions and belongings. Sultan Abdulmajid paid five million gold coins to build this magnificent palace. The palace consists of 3 sections called Mabeyn-i Humayun, a ceremonial hall called Muayede Hall, and Harem-i Humayun. The chandelier, which is a gift from Queen Victoria, has a weight of about 5 tons and is quite remarkable in the Muayede Hall. The Halls of Mabeyn-i and Harem are located to the south of this hall. The palace, which has 45,000 square meters of used flooring area, 285 rooms, 43 halls, 68 toilets and 6 Turkish baths, has been opened for visitors as a palace museum since 1984. The palace is closed on Mondays and is open to visitors on Tuesdays and Sundays between 09.00 / 16.00. Dolmabahce Palace, which has halls such as blue room and red room, dazzles with the most valuable porcelain of China and Japan.
